I am full of fandom FAIL!
When I ran across a rec for a story by a well-loved author, containing a pairing that is not my OTP in the fandom, I thought I would be open minded and experimental – so I read the story.

Now I’m agitated, my face is all frowny, and I really REALLY need to connect back to my OTP. The story was very well written, the characters true to canon, the plot was intriguing – absolutely nothing wrong with the story. Except – wrong pairing. WRONG WRONG WRONG pairing.

I am really surprised at my extreme visceral reaction to this story. I certainly mean no disrespect to the author, or those who follow the pairing of the story as their OTP. But, it doesn’t work for me. My brain and my heart feel sprained. The foundation of my world will not be right until the correct two characters are returned to their proper place TOGETHER.

Actually, I’m a little dismayed at how strongly this story affected me. Perhaps a little shame and embarrassment is lurking over my own extreme reaction. Yes, I need to get a life, etc – but until I do, my OTP’s WILL remain together and I’m going to try to avoid crashing headlong into a world view that makes my head swim and my heart break.
